Research Interests

The structural simplicity of the arctic ecosystems make them well suited for studying evolutionary processes and population ecology in response to environmental variability. Recently, my research has focused on life history strategies and analytic population dynamics of plants and animals in the Northern Hemisphere in relation to both density-dependent as well as climatic processes. In particular, present research focus on the ecological consequences of the North Atlantic Oscillation / Arctic Oscillation  in community stability of wolf-moose-fir systems (USA), in fox-prey interactions (Denmark, Greenland), in cohort variations and sexual dimorphism in Soay sheep (UK), in the timing of reproduction in Norwegian plants (Norway), in population ecology of red deer (Norway), caribou/reindeer and musk ox (Greenland) and in lynx-hare interactions (Canada).
