EU-TMR Research Network on Social Evolution
The Training Facilities offered
by the Network
-
Over a period of five years, the network offers a total of 26 men-years of
post-doctoral fellowships, each funded by the European Union or the Swiss
Federal Government, to qualified researchers who are nationals of the European
union or Associated States (Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway).
-
Applicants should be under 35 years of age (an allowance to this age limit
may be made for military service or child care), have a PhD or equivalent
degree (or alternatively have at least four years full-time research experience
at the postgraduate level) and may only apply to laboratories in countries
where they are not nationals and where they have not been resident for 12 months during the previous two years.
-
Standard duration of fellowships is two years, but shorter or longer periods
are possible.
-
Special emphasis in all research and training programmes of the network is on interdisciplinary questions of kin-structure, genetic diversity,
chemical ecology and the long-term effects of diseases. Regular workshops
and working visits to several laboratories of other network partners are
an essential part of all network Postdoctoral
Programmes.
-
Previous expertise in social insect research is not required, although
it will be an asset.
-
Details on the Post-Doctoral programmes can be obtained from the
principal investigators, whose email addresses are elsewhere on this web
site (click here to return Home).
-
Applications should be submitted in writing to the individual laboratories
and should contain a full CV including research experience, list of publications,
and details of three referees.
