SERVAS

SERVAS is the name of a peace organization. It is basically a world wide network of host and travelers. The idea is that peace is to be maintained through knowledge and friendship across cultural bonds. I learned about SERVAS in 1991 when I was on my way to Australia. I mainly stayed with SERVAS hosts on Tasmania, while doing fieldwork with Conservation Volunteers Australia on the mainland.
