Conservation Volunteers Australia

Conservation Volunteers Australia (formerly Autsralian Trust for Conservation Volunteers) is an organization working with 'hands on conservation'. 3 of my 6 month Down Under in 1993 I spent working with this, so I must have enjoyed it! I got to do 'weed fighting', tree planting, camp site, walking trail and shelter constructing, plant and animal surveying and feral animal irradication. In addition to the fun physical work (I put on 6 Kg!) I really liked getting away from the places the average backpacker goes to and working with the local Rangers.
